The Learning Network - Real Estate License Requirements

Continuing Education Requirements

Kansas real estate professionals holding a salesperson or broker license are required to renew their licenses every 2 years. The continuing education requirement is as follows:

Salesperson License:
Must meet 12 hours of continuing education per 2-year period after meeting the initial 30-hour post-license requirement. As of 2000, CPE is divided into 3 hours of core courses and 9 hours of elective courses.

Broker License:
Must meet a 12-hour continuing education requirement by their first renewal date and at each 2-year renewal. CPE is divided into 6 hours of required core courses and 6 hours of elective courses.

Courses must be approved by the commission and taken within the current renewal period (see Staggered Renewal Schedule below). Home-study courses require a proctored, closed-book final exam.

Appraisal Hours
Courses designated as appraisal are limited to 3 elective hours. Licensees may receive credit for no more than one appraisal course for any renewal period.
