If you are already a real estate professional, you know the importance of acting in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS®, as well as obeying antitrust and fair housing laws. If you are new to the profession, learning your ethical and professional responsibilities is an important initial step in developing a successful working relationship with your firm and your clients. This course is designed as both a refresher for the experienced real estate licensee, and an introduction for the neophyte. The information in this course will reinforce your understanding of the Department of Real Estate's requirements regarding professional conduct. The course will help you recognize and avoid conduct that could result in disciplinary action. The course will help you develop an awareness of the duties you owe your clients. Specifically, after completing this course, you will be able to accomplish the following objectives:
List the benefits of adhering to the NAR Code of Ethics
Recognize and avoid conduct likely to cause disciplinary action
List duties an agent owes to his or her clients
Describe those business practices that foster a high level of ethics and professionalism in the real estate industry
Recognize situations which may lead to violation of antitrust or fair housing laws
