This course satisfies the NAR requirement for ethics training for new and continuing members. (And 3 hours of DRE credit in Ethics for California.)
This course is intended to help real estate licensees develop an awareness of ethics in general and to help members of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) recognize and avoid conduct likely to cause disciplinary action. This course satisfies the NAR requirement for both new and continuing members and also the Ethics requirement of the California Department of Real Estate for license renewal. By understanding the general duties of a REALTOR®, you can help yourself and your firm avoid fraud and negligence and improve the public perception of REALTORS® as ethical professionals.
This is an overview course designed to give in-depth treatment to ethical issues for the professional serious about obtaining a depth of understanding on these issues. Specifically, after completing this course, you will be able to accomplish the following objectives.
- Identify who is required to follow the NAR Code of Ethics
- Describe the legal obligations that real estate licensees are required to follow according to Articles 1, 2, 3, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, and 17
- Identify the enforcement process of the NAR Code of Ethics
- Recognize the relationship between the California Business and Professions Code ("B&P Code") and the DRE
- Describe the difference between an arbitration complaint and an ethics complaint
